The 2018 Index-Card-A-Day (ICAD) challenge completed on July 31. Having several unused cards, I decided to carry on a little longer.
When working on the index cards, I often have several cards in various stages. Here are the three cards I had in progress on August 6, 2018. You will notice the similarities: Liquitex Raw Sienna Spray Paint, orange acrylic ink, Dina Wakley’s heavy body paints: lime and lemon, and gesso on top of it all.
I carried this card several steps further and completed it on August 6, 2018… “lead”. I added pencil, pen, washi tape, the word “lead”, and machine stitching in orange. The word was backed with pieces of batik fabric and sari ribbon.
The next day, I carried the remaining two cards one step further. I used Dina Wakley heavy body acrylic paint: Cheddar through stencils. I added splatters and painted the “enjoy” word canvas with Dina’s Fuchsia. I also added washi tape to both cards.
The card completed on August 7, 2018… “move” had some additional layers added: stamping, Stabilo marks all pencil, pencil, pen, the word “move”, and machine stitching in orange. The word was backed with a piece of scrapbook paper and sari ribbon.
The remaining card was completed on August 8, 2018… “enjoy” with some additional layers added: pencil, scribble writing with Fude Ball Pen around the circle, the word “enjoy”, marks made by a gift card with watered down black acrylic paint, and machine stitching in red. The word was backed with two pieces of sari ribbon.
Now, it is time to begin working on another set of cards. I will try to photographically document my process as best I can in the next post.
