Because Adam and Eve sinned against God, God said, “cursed is the ground because of you…thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field” (Genesis 3:17a, 18)

On the cross, Jesus wore a crown of thorns – twisted together by the Roman soldiers and placed on his head – a representation of the sin of mankind. (John 19:2)
