A Christmas Wish…
It was late at night and the sky was filled with stars. As the shepherds huddled together with
their sheep trying to stay warm, an angel appeared to them… filling the sky with bright light.
You could see them move even closer together as fear engulfed them.
As the angel began to speak, he encouraged the shepherds not to be afraid and reassured them
that the news he brought was good… very good – news that would bring joy to all people.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)
The angel told them that they would recognize Him as He lay in a manger wrapped in swaddling
clothes.
As the angel spoke his last words, the heavens were filled with a host of angels.. each one
praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14)
The shepherds quickly ran to see the Savior.. the One of whom the angel spoke.
We have heard this story often… the first to hear the news of the Savior were shepherd boys..
the lowliest of all positions. It must have been hard to distinguish the smell of the shepherds
and the sheep. But in the mind of God, they were precious. And so, the message came to them
first.
No matter how small I feel at times, I know that in God’s eyes I am precious, too. And the
message of the coming of the Savior is brought to me…
…. And to you
Humbly you came
God of all creation
Here with us
In a starlet manger
Emmanuel
Light of the world
Here to save
Come let us adore
Oh come let us adore him
The Lord, worship Christ, the Lord
Let all that is within us
Adore
Wise men bring their treasures
Shepherds bow low
Angel voices sing of peace on earth
What have I to offer
To heaven’s King
I’ll bring my life, my love, my all
Adore
Come let us adore
Oh come let us adore him
The Lord, worship Christ, the Lord
Let all that is within us
Adore
Angels sing, praises ring to the newborn King
Peace on earth, here with us, joy awakening
At your feet we fall
Adore
Come let us adore
Oh come let us adore him
The Lord, worship Christ, the Lord
Let all that is within us
Adore
